Mexico shouldn't put their heads down.

There have been many arguments about whether Mexico would be able to go to the World Cup 2013.  Mexico started on the wrong foot; they tied the three first qualifying games. Even the passionate and loyal fans doubt if Mexico will qualify.  Articles from ESPN are even asking if Mexico is strong enough, and will step up to qualify.  “It begs the question: Is this Mexican national team simply not as good as we thought? In terms of the raised expectations and where the team is currently at, the answer is yes, but a look at the big picture is needed.”  Tom Marshall from ESPN mentions.

The only time Mexico hasn’t been part of the world Cup was in Italy90. It was more than 2 decades ago. We wont let that happen, our result are not the best ones, but we still have a chance.  Mexico is in fifth place and he is out from the three tickets to go to the Concafac for the world cup.  To be able to leave the unenviable position it is in, Mexico needs to win their next three games.  They need to gain Mexicans trust. As Alto Nivel´s article mentions, the opponent’s results are what will determine if Mexico qualifies to the World cup.

Mexico should start being tough and give the best of them.  They are still missing seven games. They haven’t been playing as we expected too. They are not a bad team they are lacking of goals and being rough.  Now we are wishing they win every single game and hopefully they have enough points to classify.  Mexico shouldn't put their heads down.

Mexico ties with USA

Last week Tuesday Mexico played against United States. The game was held in Mexico City in Estadio Azteca. They game ended with a tie. Both teams gave a tremendous fight. This tie helped USA to qualify and be in the 3rd place. We Mexican National Team can agree that we are not happy with the results. The thing that makes us be furious is that we know we have the potential to win. In an article in Los Angeles Times Kevin Baxter mentions how the USA strategy was to block Javier Hernandez also called “Chicharito”. Chicharito is one of our high- scoring strikers.  Baxter also mentions, how El tri had multiple opportunities to score. In the other hand USA had only one shot to the goal.

Reading from a Mexican News Paper called Televisa Fernando Vazquez mentions how Mexico ends up in the second last spot. Mexicans were leaving the stadium with their head down. Mexico hasn’t lost any game, but they haven’t win one either. These results are jeopardizing Mexican going to the World cup.  At this point there is no other point or view or analytic way to see it Mexico need to give everything in the field and gain some results. Fernando Vazquez mentioned the lack of talent that was shown. Their passes were too short, nothing was precise, he believes Mexico can do better. One of the main difference form this two articles is that the American mention how Mexico gave their best, while reading the Mexican article they mention how Mexico didn’t give their best.

Gold in the Olympics

I would like to speak about one of the big achievements of the Mexican National team. Winning gold in the Olympics in soccer was a big surprise. As mention in the article of The NY times Mexico´s soccer team was the underdog in the 2013 Olympics.  They won against Brazil 2-1. Oribe Peralta scored the 2 goals of the game.  This article explains how Mexico has a lot of youth players. Sam Borden the author of this article mentions how the Mexican team fought until the end. Sam Borden is a sport reporter for the NY Times he was assigned to cover 2013 London Olympics.

The article also mentions how Mexico has a lot of young talent. The players that were part of the Olympics weren’t part of the Mexican league. There was only one dos Santos, but he was unable to play since he was injured. This young team was able to succeed. We should be proud of how Mexico came with a lot of passion and gain result.

The team gave Mexico a good reason to be proud of their country. “Mexico, which has suffered difficult defeats in previous forays deep into international tournaments, was the better team throughout.” Sam Borden mentions. Soccer is a sport that keeps Mexico together, before the Olympics we have been defeated several times. This triumph was an example of our hard work.

The players were astonish with the results, you couldn’t stop smiling and cheering. When the game ended several player shared their thoughts about their accomplishment with the public. Sam quoted few of the player’s words.  “We just entered the history books of Mexican sport,” “We have given our people an immense joy. This is unforgettable.” Marco Fabian said. The players knew that this event was going to be unforgettable. I believe most of the Mexicans will agree with him. We had the opportunity to hear what Giovani dos Santos had to say too. “We want the people in Mexico to believe in this young generation of players,” “This gold medal goes to all of those in Mexico who always believed in us. For those who didn’t believe in us? Well, let them celebrate, too.”

While Mexican couldn’t stop cheering, Brazilian couldn’t believe what just happen to them.  The article remarks how the Brazilian players didn’t even look at their medals. They looked at the Mexican players with envy and sadness.

This article ends with Carlos Salcido saying how exited he was. I consider his words explain how every single player felt when they received their medals.  “This is incredible,” Mexico defender Carlos Salcido said. “I have already bitten the medal and I can tell you it is real.”

The Mexican

I’m a soccer player and I’m also Mexican. I believe this blog reflects my passion towards my love for my country and its main team. The main sport in Mexico is soccer, is what everyone speaks about. Soccer is what runs through every Mexican veins. You are thought to play soccer since you are little, it doesn’t matter your gender. When there is a soccer game the whole country puts their jerseys on and watch it with friends and family. When the Mexican National Team plays you can see how all media is advertising the game. They even have a slogan “Ponte la Verde”. It means to put your green shirt on and support your team.  The Mexican soccer team main colors are green, white and red.

Let me tell you a little of how the Mexican National team  is made. Every city has a team. For example, I’m from Monterrey and our official team is Rayados, in Nuevo Leon is Tigres, Saltillo there official team is called Los Santos Laguna. From all the teams around Mexico they choose the best players to be part of this selection. We also have players that are not part of the Mexican league but are still part of the Mexican National team. One of these cases is Javier Hernandez also known as “Chicharito”. He is playing for the Manchester United a soccer team in Europe.  He plays forward in Manchester as well as in the Mexican National Team.

The Mexican Selection plays in the Olympics and the world cup. They also have other leagues.  I’m proud to mention that The Mexican National Team won 1st place on the Olympics of 2012.
