Chicharito

Having Javier Hernandez in the Mexican national team is an honor. Javier Hernandez also known as “Chicharito” plays for the Manchester United. He is the first Mexican to play in the team. Through the years, he has accomplished many things; he is also considered one of the best players.

Hernandez is originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco. He was born in 1988. His father and his grandfather were professional soccer players. His father, Javier Hernández Gutiérrez, was an international Mexican strike and his grandfather Tomás Balcázar played for C.D. Guadalajara.  Hernández nickname “Chicharito”, meaning little pea, came from his father, Javier Hernández Gutiérrez, who was nicknamed Chicharo (pea) because of his green eyes.

The first, professional team he joined was when he was 15 years old.  He joined C. D Guadalajara.  He was sent to the 2005 FIFA world champions, sadly on the process he got injured. Few years later he played for the Mexican club Guadalajara. In 2009 Hernández made his debut for Mexico in a match against Colombia. He has also represented them at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup.  He was considered the Gold Cup`s top scorer, he scored 7 goals.  He is the sixth highest goal scorer of all-time for the Mexican national team.

Manchester United was instead in Chicharito. In 2009 a scout went to Mexico. Look at him and reported positively after watching few games. HE was too young, so the club wanted to wait.  When Chicharito was selected to represent the world cup with the Mexican National team, the club needed to rush and make him a bid. Manchester United wanted to finalize the paperwork. It was on April 8th 2010 that Hernandez agreed to sign for Manchester United.

Today, he is already in his third season with the Manchester united.  Through his life he has had a rich international career. He is part of the Mexican National team, 2010 FIFA  World Cup, Post World Cup friendlies and 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup.  In his total career in regular league he has scored 58 goals.

I’m a huge Fan of Hernandez he is a fighter. He is a powerful icon for the Mexicans, we are proud of him. We are glad he is representing Mexico all over the world. He is one of example of the big potential Mexico has.

The History!

The Mexicans have a strong and deep passion for soccer. When a game is held in Mexico you can see the whole country put their jerseys on and come together, reunite, to watch the games. The Mexican team has an interesting and long history.  You should keep reading to know and be a true Mexican soccer fan.

Mexican Football federation leads the Mexican national soccer team.  Most of the games are at their official stadium, called “Estadio Azteca”. This stadium is in Mexico City.   Through out the years we have been getting better, since 1994 the national team has qualified constantly for the World Cup. They have been to fourteen world cups.  From those fourteen we reached the quarterfinals twice.  Both times were staged on Mexican soil.

Mexico was the host of the 1970 World Cup. They managed to pull off a good organization and as mentioned they reached quarterfinals. This tournament made the Mexican have a true passion for soccer. Since this tournament was held by Mexico the watching percent of soccer in Central America went sky high.  Thanks to the positive outcome of the first World Cup in Mexico they were able to host a second one. In 1986 they hosted their second world cup. The team looked sharper than ever. Even though they haven´t had an international trophy, soccer in Mexico is steadily rising.

Mexico is known as the most successful national team in the CONCACAF region. The team is the only one of their region that has won an official FIFA recognized title. They have one FIFA Confederation Cup, nine CONCACAF championships, including six CONCACAF Golf Cups ,one North American Nation Cup and two NAFC Championship. Hopefully Mexico will be in the 2014 World Cup.

Monterrey wins third CCL title

While the Mexican National team was training for their final friendly game against Nigeria, Mexico had their CONCACAF Champions League final. The final was between Monterrey and Santos Laguna.  Monterrey was considered the underdog of the game because Santos was ahead Monterrey in the Mexican league.

The game took place in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon at the stadium ""El Tecnologico".  Monterrey was losing 2-0 at home.  In the last thirty minutes Monterrey step it up and score three goals. Monterrey's first goal was scored by Aldo de Nigris. Then Neri Cardoza, ties the  game with a 2-2, in the minute eighty-three.  Finally, Aldo de Nigris scores the last winning goal. The whole stadium went crazy; they couldn’t believe what was happening. Mexico scored three goals in the last ten minutes. Santos Laguna couldn´t believe it.

Monterrey is going to have a long lasting party. “Monterrey rolled to its third consecutive Club World Cup after completing a massive comeback on Santos Laguna” Eric Gomez mentions in goal.com.  It doesn’t happen really often a team winning three times in a row. Since 1972 that we didn’t see this, the last team that had a three wins was the "Independientes".

I’m from Monterrey and I’m a big fan of the team. Monterrey did an amazing job. They are a great example of why you shouldn´t give up until the end. Honestly, I didn’t think they were going to go this far. During the season Monterrey was not looking really solid.  I’m proud of being a fan, and I strongly believe this consecutive winning will never be forgotten.
